About "No Gossip"

The only gossip allowed at WinePress Publishing is talk about our No Gossip policy. To remind us how to behave ourselves in Christ, WinePress created this portable place mat. This will help us not to eat the choice morsel of gossip.

Each WinePress employee signs an agreement stating that they will only talk about our authors in a constructive manner at all times - inside and outside the office. Information about authors, WinePress, and the inner workings of personal relations is limited to those closely related to a project. There are several reasons for this policy.

One, it's natural for us to complain about life, but we're all called in the Lord to rejoice always and give thanks in all circumstances (1 Thessalonians 5:18). The No Gossip policy helps encourage an uplifting atmosphere.

Two, bringing a quality custom book to completion is a labor intensive process. At WinePress we don't just print books, we partner with our authors in making their books shine. Most people do not realize just how many details go into bringing a book to print. However, to draw a parallel with the food industry, WinePress is like a gourmet restaurant rather than a fast food drive-in. There are many places one can get a quick print, but the old saying, "You get what you pay for," is really true - not just at restaurants, but in publishing as well. Unlike a fast food place that advertises so many fed, we are interested not in quantity, but quality. Like any high quality product, it takes a great deal of time and real skill to smooth over the difficulties and make it look easy. Therefore, our No Gossip policy guards the interactions, struggles, and joys between authors, printers, and WinePress staff.

Every department at WinePress has one goal in mind - to give quality service. Therefore, our conversations always have a positive point to them. If someone were to listen in on a conversation at WinePress they would only hear wholesome talk that builds others up according to their needs. We know and understand fully that a book is an outpouring of the author's heart and we jealously protect it.

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. (Ephesians 4:29)

One of my first acts after Athena Dean hired me was to institute this No Gossip policy. May we all, authors and WinePress employees, joyfully commit ourselves to this wholesome dining. This portable place-mat is a great way to remind ourselves to examine what we eat: the choice morsels of gossip, or the rich food of God's love. Call 1.800.326.4674 for more information.
